Sep. 04, 2023

The Niagara Falls 12U Falcons were victorious this weekend and won the OBA ‘A’ Championship in Chatham, Ontario, with a record of 6-1.

Their grueling weekend started on Day One with two wins against the Mississauga Southwest Twins, 23-1, and Chatham Diamonds, 17-4. Owen Bender, Kieran Warriner, Cole Meger, and Ethan Goodman provided clutch pitching when called upon.

On Day Two, Luca Lizzotti and Noah Rapp combined for a complete game shutout against the Creemore Cardinals, and some timely hitting by Leo Mannella propelled the Falcons to a 3-0 win. The day ended with a slugfest that saw the Falcons win against a well-rested London West Tincaps team. Jackson Lostracco, Leo Mannella, and Kieran Warriner all threw their best on the bump, and Jackson MacLeod provided some clutch hits to help the Falcons earn another victory by a score of 15-12.

On Championship Day, the Falcons faced off against a feisty Toronto Playgrounds team. The Falcons scored early and often, and with the help of some timely defense by Luke Fratangelo, the Falcons edged out another win, 14-7.

The first Championship game saw the Falcons square off against the London Tin Caps for the second time. In a back-and-forth battle, the Falcons had a 3-run lead going into the 7th inning. While the Falcons put forward a valiant effort to stop the surging Tin Caps, they lost in extra innings by a score of 10-7.

After a short break, the Falcons and Tin Caps rematched again in a “Winner Takes All” final. The Falcons set the tone early and put up 4 runs in the top of the first inning, and with incredible pitching from Noah Rapp and Porter Swick, combined with timely hitting and baserunning by Ethan Goodman, the Falcons beat the Tin Caps, 18-6, to capture the ‘A’ Provincial Title.

The coaching staff, consisting of Head Coach Bruno Lizzotti, and Assistant Coaches Matthew Meger, David Rapp, and Michael Mannella, would like to congratulate all the players on their hard-earned victory. Every player found a way to contribute to the overall success of the team. They showed their resiliency and never gave up.

The coaching staff would also like to thank all the parents who came out and supported our team throughout the year and helped keep the kids prepared and ready to compete.
